Hey lovelies, it’s been awhile.
This summer has been hectic to say the least with working, preparing to go back to school, applying for loans, and moving in. I kinda just wanted to make this post as an update to my life with what has been going on, where I’m at and where I’m going.
If someone told me two years ago that I would be where I am today, doing what I’m doing now, I would probably laugh in their face. Change always occurs and you learn new things, but you never truly understand until you experience it for yourself. I’ve come to realize that I’ve never been happier and more excited about where my life is going than I am right now.
This summer was an eye-opening experience for myself, as I’m sure life will continue to be as I grow older. But, I can honestly say that I can start to pinpoint these pivotal moments for myself and it feels so amazing. With removing myself from my college town and moving back home for the summer with my parents and spending time working, I was able to self-reflect on my past year and what was working for my life, as well as what wasn’t. It’s always important to continue to be adapting to your world around you rather than remaining the same as this is the best way to discover the most fulfilling version of yourself.
Because of this, I have continued to adjust who I am, who I surround myself with, what I choose to spend my energy on (as well as what I choose not to), where I envision myself in ten years, where I envision myself in ten minutes, and so much more. I think it’s important to recognize these changes and become actively aware in how they are helping shape you into your most vibrant self. This summer has been extremely pivotal for me for a variety of different reasons:
1. I got accepted into my program!!!
My path after high school has always had the same generic direction with a few adjustments here and there. I originally wanted to be a marketing major but after transferring schools and realizing there are more options out there that could potentially suit me better, I discovered the Strategic Communications track of the Journalism major in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. At the end of my fall semester of sophomore year, I submitted my application and sadly did not get accepted as I was still too young. I could have let this discourage me but I decided to take it as an opportunity to grow and learn to make my next application stronger and better than ever. This summer, I was accepted starting my fall semester of my junior year and I could not be more excited to see where this new chapter of my life takes me. I know that this major is the best possible major out there for me and I am so excited to work hard and succeed in one of my most favorite topics in my life!
2. I became a consultant for Arbonne!
This one is huge for me. I’ve always struggled with self love and accepting myself exactly for who I am. My pivotal point in this area of my life was after this spring semester when I moved back home for the summer. Our Wisconsin winters are long in general but this past one seemed much longer than normal. Because of this, it caused a sort of seasonal depression in myself and all I wanted to do was sit in my room, eat food, watch Netflix and do my homework. As you can guess, the eating started to add up and, well, let’s just say I was less than impressed with the way I looked and the beginning of summer. My dad and I decided to work out together and I lost a few pounds, but I came to the realization that, even though working out is important to living a healthy lifestyle, it’s more about what you’re eating and putting into your body.
When the opportunity came around for me to join the Arbonne community as a consultant, I saw it as the perfect way to hold myself accountable in making a healthy lifestyle change. Yeah, junk food is great and comforting and all, but feeling more confident and loving my body is worth a whole lot more than a candy bar. I love my carbs and chocolate as much as the next girl, but like…. have you SEEN what’s in those things? Yikes….
Anyways, if you follow along on this journey and decide at any point you want to jump in with me, don’t hesitate to reach out! Healthy living IS fun, but it is even MORE fun with friends!!
3. I moved into my new apartment!!
After months of preparation (and packing), I am so excited to finally be all moved into my new home for the upcoming year! Not only will it be straight out of Pinterest (lol), but it’s NOT A DORM ROOM. I can’t wait to be able to cook a ton of healthy meals and watch TV in my own kitchen and living room!
4. I learned to not care!! (even more than before!!!)
Over the years, I’ve learned to let things roll off my back and in time, it has slowly gotten easier. The things that would upset me to the point where I would get a headache, now simply consist of a shrug of the shoulders and an occasional click of the unfollow button. Life is way too short to let other people around you get in the way of your success, goals and dreams. As Trey would say, two wolves are constantly in a battle, the positive wolf and the negative wolf. The sure way to know which one will win the battle is the one you feed, and I continue to choose to feed the positivity in my life (I’m dating a philosopher, what can I say).
I think that’s pretty much it!! These past few weeks have been so extremely hectic with packing, getting ready for school, moving, joining as a consultant and so much more but once I get back into my school habits and have more time on my hands, watch out for a weekly blog posting schedule! I really want to focus on making my writing a priority this year!
